My Voice Over Journey!

Last week, I did a thing…

Besides painting and opening up my e-commerce site, for the last few months I have been taking part in a Voice Over program through Voice Coaches out of Albany. Last week, I was able to drive in to the studio and record a demo for my “resume” in this new world. My goal is to voice over corporate elearning, PSAs, phone systems, audiobooks, or whatever else comes my way as I learn the ropes and teeter on my tippy toes to grab some low-hanging fruit labeled “EXPERIENCE.”

From day 1 and first meeting Katie and Laura N., the entire team at Voice Coaches was incredible. They made me feel very comfortable at all times, especially as a newbie that has never done anything like this before.

I always just jump into things 100%, and this journey is no different. I could have done all coaching sessions via Zoom or at another closer, local studio, but I wanted to be in the mix, see exactly where all this magic happens from the team that offered the training, and couldn’t be happier to have done so.  It was a gamble, considering the winter season, but for all 4 of my drives to Albany (3 hours one way) in the winter months, I had beautiful weather and clear sailing!

Every coach I worked with (Marissa, Laura G., and Dan) was incredible and I learned so much from each session. A special shout out goes to Dan, the producer of my demo, who in 30 seconds, made me relaxed and comfortable. In no time at all, we e jumped right into reading seven different scripts (30 seconds to a minute each) to be boiled down to its best parts and applied to a 1-2-minute demo I can use as a resume in this exciting new field. Watching Dan from the booth work his magic with Pro Tools on the other side of the glass was nothing short of amazing!

DEMO DAY!

Lastly, I want to thank former colleague and friend and voice over SUPERSTAR, Rick Staropoli, for giving me some guidance, contacts, and always answers my silly newbie questions 😊
